大学在学中にマドモワゼル誌のゲストエディターコンテストで賞を取る。
1978年 ブランド「ベッツィ・ジョンソン」をスタート。
American Queen of funk Betsey Johnson was born in Weathersfield, Connecticut and graduated from Syracuse University in 1964.
She worked for Mademoiselle as a Guest Editor before she became a designer in Paraphernalia Boutique in 1965. Since then, she has never stopped designing. In 1999, the Council of Fashion Designers of America presented her with the Timeless Talent Award, a recognition of her ability to change with the times and her continued success in the fashion business for over 3 decades.
